Temperatures are dangerously low… where does Evanston’s homeless population go?

Last year, Cook County reported 27 cold-related deaths by the end of January.

That was a mild winter compared to the Polar Vortex we are about to experience. Experts say you can get frostbite tomorrow from being outside for just five minutes.

So where does Evanston’s homeless population go when the cold becomes life-threatening?
Evanston’s Interfaith Action opens the city’s only “emergency overnight shelter,” offering refuge for about 35 homeless people.

I sat down with Interfaith Action’s Executive Director Sue Murphy to learn more and find out what Northwestern students can do to help.
